Biography:
Orcheston were founded in 2007 by Andreas Soteriou. They are characterised by their passion for Dance and their dedication to the creative advancement and presentation of Salsa in a special way, engaging the audience with their dance. Everyone in the Orcheston team shares the “Dance What You Feel” idea. The members of the team are experienced performers locally and abroad, with divert backgrounds in various dance styles. This diversity defines their style since they often incorporate various styles and influences into their Salsa choreographies. 

They have already performed at the Cyprus Salsa Congresses (Protaras, March 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014  and 2015), the Scottish Salsa Congress (Edinburgh, January 2009), the Stars Of Salsa (London, January 2009), the Berlin Salsa Congress (Berlin, September 2009, October 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015), the Athens Salsa Spring Festival (Athens, April 2013, 2014 and 2015), the performance project of Broadway Dance Center (New York, July 2010), the Dance and fitness convention (Nicosia, December 2009, 2010, and 2011), the CyBc's tv program (December 2012).

What the name ‘ORCHESTON’ means:

Orcheston means ‘Dancer’ in ancient Greek. It is one of the words of the most ancient alphabetical inscription that is found in the world. The inscription is written on a porcelain award for a dance competition, placed in Athens in 740bc. Specifically, the inscription says ‘Whoever of the dancers now dances most lightly, to him ... (to be given this award)’.

Η "γεωμετρική οινοχόη Διπύλου" από το Κεραμεικό των Αθηνών, έχει αναγνωριστεί ως φέρουσα την αρχαιότερη ελληνική αλφαβητική επιγραφή της ιστορικής περιόδου στον κόσμο (740 π.Χ.).
Η επιγραφή: ΝΙΜΝΑΚΕΔΟΤΟΤΕΙΖΑΙΠΑΤΑΤΟΛΑΤΑΝΟΤΝΑΠΝΟΤΣΕΧΡΟΝΥΝΣΟΗ, διαβάζεται εκ δεξιών προς τα αριστερά : ΗΟΣΝΥΝΟΡΧΕΣΤΟΝΠΑΝΤΟΝΑΤΑΛΟΤΑΤΑΠΑΙΖΕΙΤΟΤΟΔΕΚΑΝΜΙΝ και σημαίνει :
"ΟΠΟΙΟΣ ΧΟΡΕΥΕΙ ΚΑΛΥΤΕΡΑ ΑΠΟ ΟΛΟΥΣ ΝΑ ΑΠΟΚΤΗΣΕΙ ΑΥΤΟ (ΤΟ ΕΠΑΘΛΟ)".
